Executor
« Back to Glossary Index
“Executor” is an archaic word that refers to what is now called a “Personal Representative.” An Executor is a person appointed by the court, through probate, to administer the estate of a deceased person. A Will typically names who will be the Executor of the estate. In Latin, an Executor must be a man. A woman holding that office would be an “Executrix”. No one know how to conjugate Latin anymore, which is one of the reasons the word “Executor” is an anachronism.
